I’ve seen the volunteer opportunities list but I’m not sure where I’d fit in.
If you have a desire to serve, we encourage you to begin the application process by returning the volunteer application. We will spend time to help you match your gifts and your schedule to an opportunity that will bless those we minister to.

I don’t know if I have anything to give.
We’re sure you do. All gifting and talents are useful in ministry. The most valuable thing you have is the gift of sharing yourself (and Christ in you) to someone who simply needs a friend.

What if I’ve never volunteered in the inner-city before?
That’s okay! The Root Cellar staff will come along side you during your training.

I don’t think I can make a weekly commitment. Can I still volunteer?
Yes, while the most vital opportunities are weekly, we do have need for volunteers to help with an assortment of special projects or to chaperone outings.

How long does it take to get started?
You can start immediately! Once we receive your completed application we will call and schedule you for program training.

Who can volunteer at The Root Cellar?
Any disciple of Jesus Christ who can confidently sign our Statement of Faith and comes well referred can volunteer. Additional background checks are required for the safety of the youth.

Can my family volunteer together?

No. The Root Cellar is closed on Sunday to insure that all staff, volunteers, and neighbors are free to participate in their congregation’s worship services and activities.

What if I have an idea for a program that I don’t see listed?
We’d love to hear your thoughts. We are always looking for new ways to meet the changing needs of this diverse community.

Are the services of The Root Cellar open to everyone?
No. They are designed to serve those neighborhoods east of Franklin Arterial.

I’m not sure I can volunteer at this time. Is there another way I can participate in the ministry?
Certainly. Your prayers and financial support or tangible goods are a vital part of the ministry. Please pray that we would have enough volunteers to meet the needs and that the youth and adults in our neighborhood will respond to the love of Jesus Christ demonstrated to them. Financial donations or tangible gifts may be made at any time through the office. We are a member in good standing of the Evangelical Council of Financial Accountability.
